An ideal plant for large natural area. Tall stems carry pink/ purple flowers in summer that are attracted to insects.
Height 1 meter plant 0 – 10cm in full sun/part shade.
This is a pretty plant with dark foliage and scarlet flowers borne on tall spikes in late summer. It does well in pond edges with 10cm covering the crown in full sun to part shade. During very cold weather it would benefit from being moved to a cool greenhouse for the winter.

This striking plant has black banding horizontally on stems resembling porcupine quills. It is an excellent structural plant providing interest and contrast in the pond margins. It will thrive in boggy ground or pond edges with up to 15cms over the crown. This plant does well in sun to part shade. It is advisable to plant in a container to control the spread.
