This barred horsetail is a pretty member of the horsetail family with fleshy evergreen stems with black rings. It is attractive addition to the boggy edges and shallows pond margins. Adds winter interest.
Height 80 cm. Plant in medium / large containers with aquatic soil and cover with pea gravel.
Grows large pinnate leaves 90 cm across on 90 cm high stems, flowers vary from white through to pink.
This striking plant has black banding horizontally on stems resembling porcupine quills. It is an excellent structural plant providing interest and contrast in the pond margins. It will thrive in boggy ground or pond edges with up to 15cms over the crown. This plant does well in sun to part shade. It is advisable to plant in a container to control the spread.
